SAYVILLE, NY — Baseball fields around the Town of Islip are getting facelifts. Broadway Avenue Field in Sayville is the first to get new turf infields, designed to allow a range of ages and levels to play.
Islip Town officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony on the fields recently.
The LandTek Group installed the fields and will be replacing more over the next couple of years. Youth and older leagues can use the fields, designed with markings for standard, intermediate and little league games.
“Families will create lasting memories watching their children play on Broadway Ave., and we look forward to bringing new fields like this one to communities throughout the Town. On behalf of the members of the Town Board, we’re grateful to our partners at The LandTek Group who helped to make this possible,” Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said in a statement.
Broadway Ave. also got new concrete dugouts, backstops and fencing.
