Project Overview
Open for Major League Baseball play on April 13, 2009, Citi Field is the new home of the New York Mets. With a drainage, heating and cooling system beneath the field surface, Citi Field is a state of the art facility. This project was unique because the drainage was designed to allow it to be connected to a SubAir system. Connection points utilized special fittings custom built by Flex-End Tend fittings so if the field settled, it would still allow the irrigation and drainage to remain connected without breaking and the drainage inverts to function properly. The field utilized a custom blended warning track mix from Country Stone and the infield clay was a custom blend from Dura-Edge. The bullpens were designed for natural grass and later modified to FieldTurf.
While Citi Field is one of the newest and technologically advanced stadiums in the MLB, it has served as host to some of the most anticipated events in the tri-state area. Since its inaugural season, Citi Field has hosted international soccer games, concerts, and even obstacle races. On July 16, 2013, Citi Field came into the international spotlight when it hosted the 2013 MLB All-Star Game. As one of the highest-profile projects in LandTek’s portfolio, Citi Field continues to be in the public spotlight.
